Our customers demand the highest quality. That’s why we have the very best in mechanical testing facilities. The team at Hazelwood complete both standard CEC industry testing and non-standard bespoke testing that demonstrate performance differentiation of Lubrizol’s products. A highly skilled team of engineers complete field testing across all areas of engineering from cars to trucks, ships and even hydraulics, providing real world testing on a global scale. These tests prove performance, durability and fuel economy and support OEM and customer requests on a diverse range of equipment. Our close relationships with OEMs and the innovation shown in testing means that we are leading the way in additives and lubricants development every day at Hazelwood.

At Hazelwood, we are a Centre for Excellence, supporting and promoting the worldwide networks of Lubrizol’s business. Our global support services are the backbone of Lubrizol with human resources, information solutions, finance, health and safety, marketing and global communications all based on site. This diverse arena of support combines specialist skills with experienced minds and supports the business and customers of Lubrizol across the world.

Health and Safety

Our Hazelwood facility adheres to all local, regional and UK regulations for environmental, health, safety and security compliance. In an effort to continuously improve and establish industry best practices, the Hazelwood facility is regularly audited to best practices. The site also holds ISO 14001:2015 for its research and development work and the site operations.

Community Relations

Lubrizol Hazelwood is committed to being a good corporate citizen in all of the communities where we live and work. Lubrizol employees have given their time, skills, experience, dedication and energy, supporting many local community initiatives and charities, positively affecting hundreds of lives over many years.

Our focus has also been to actively support the UK STEM programme, our STEM ambassadors have worked extensively with schools, colleges, universities and our regional industry colleagues and network partners. We are active members of the STEM Ambassadors Hub, E4E (Derby City Council) programme, IMechE and also RSC (Royal Society of Chemists).

Interesting Facts

Environmental concerns are taken very seriously, and we have put in place many initiatives to meet current as well as future legislation. Zero to landfill is a key initiative at Hazelwood. The ISO14001 standard is the international standard for environmental management and is a certification recognised across all leading organisations. We make good ethical decisions about nature; our supply chain and business conduct to support the environment around us.

Hazelwood also has a certification for ISO9001 and is a UKAS accredited testing laboratory, No.1557, for around 50 tests.

We are proud of our people and the unique working environment they create. Our student placement programme is consistently ranked in the top 50 by Rate My Placement.   We also have been a corporate partner for over a decade with DWT (Derbyshire Wildlife Trust).
