Revolutionary, Reactive Polyamide Technology Opens a World of New Opportunities

October 27, 2021

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Lubrizol introduces a new polyamide technology that is opening a world of new opportunities for polymer innovators.

Aptalon™ Reactive Polyamide Technology is a new Lubrizol platform that can take products to higher levels of performance and adaptability. Delivering increased resistance to hydrolysis, chemicals, abrasion and heat, the technology is poised to impart amazing performance capabilities to a diverse range of products:

  • Outstanding adhesion to polar surfaces
  • High temperature resistance
  • Excellent chemical and hydrolysis resistance
  • Robust hardness, abrasion and impact resistance

"This new, reactive polyamide technology platform delivers a new set of building blocks for product innovators", shares Dave Seline, global business development manager, "With hydroxyl, amine and carboxyl terminations, these polyamides can be utilized in water-based coatings, solvent-based coatings, powder coatings, urethane foams, adhesives, composites, and probably a plethora of other applications that we haven't even yet begun to explore. We're very excited to introduce this new platform and to collaborate with customers to adapt and optimize the platform. It's potential capabilities go beyond where it is today.

Lubrizol has designed functional materials for decades that bring performance enhancements to our own polymer offerings, but now we offer our newest polyamide platform to product innovators. Our initial polyamide portfolio consists of seven products, and we expect our offering to expand as our product development evolves.
