The Christine Sewell Charities & Community Award honours the outstanding contributions of Lubrizol employees who dedicate their time and energy to charitable causes and local communities. Established in memory of former employee Christine Sewell, the award recognises those who go above and beyond to make a difference. The winner receives £500, to be donated to their chosen charity or community group.

This year, the UK Charities & Community Committee was thrilled by the exceptional quality of nominations. After careful consideration, we are proud to announce that the 2025 awardee is Kim Reid, Project Manager at Lubrizol Hazelwood, UK.

Kim’s commitment to her local community is nothing short of inspiring. As an active member of the Turnditch Village Hall Committee, she spearheaded a fundraising initiative that raised £40,000 to refurbish the community playground. Thanks to her leadership—working with suppliers, overseeing contractors, and managing the project—the playground was completed just before Christmas 2024, creating a safe and vibrant space for families and children.

Her efforts don’t stop there. Kim plays a central role in organising the annual Turnditch & Windley Show, a beloved event attracting over 5,000 visitors each year and offering a true country show experience.

Kim’s compassion also shines through in her personal life. For the past two and a half years, she has supported her sister whose child, Lewis, has faced serious health challenges. Kim learned specialised medical care to provide respite and has been a constant source of strength during hospital appointments and operations.

Her dedication to charitable causes extends to fundraising efforts:

Inspired her son Jack to raise £2,500 for The Sick Children’s Trust Charity through a 5km inflatable run.
Ran 221 km over 10 weeks in 2021, raising £1,315 for Tiggers Preschool.
Raised £1,145 for Cancer Research UK by turning Hazelwood Pink.

Kim’s unwavering generosity and community spirit have touched countless lives. She is a true role model for making a positive impact.
