Lubrizol Fulfills $2 Million Global Commitment to Support COVID-19 Crisis

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Lubrizol is pleased to announce it has surpassed its $2 million donation commitment to support COVID-19 needs. In alignment with its community affairs strategy of supporting global needs with local actions, the company and its employees have supported communities, medical providers and neighbors across the world.

“In true Lubrizol style, the organization mobilized to support those who are on the front lines fighting the COVID-19 pandemic every day,” said Elizabeth Grove, President of The Lubrizol Foundation and Global Lead for Public Affairs. “We are grateful to our healthcare workers and first responders working tirelessly to keep us all safe and the organizations meeting the unprecedented needs caused by the pandemic. I am very proud of the Lubrizol teams who quickly identified the unique needs of the communities where we work and live and took action to address those in the most impactful way.”

These donations are in addition to the impact of the company’s science, with its ingredients being leveraged in hand sanitizers, medical gowns, face coverings, drug products, medical devices, transport vehicles and countless other applications critical in the fight against COVID-19.

Among the company’s $2 million commitments:

Supporting Our Neighborhood Foodbanks
In all the communities where the company has significant operations, Lubrizol made monetary and/or food donations to neighborhood Food Banks and Helping Hands funds, ensuring those who need it have access to food, over-the-counter medication, household cleaning supplies and needed hygiene products.

Supporting Local Businesses, Livelihoods
Lubrizol employees participated in community efforts to support local restaurants with food orders and made donations to groups like Vocational Guidance Services (VGS), a rehabilitation agency with a mission to prepare people with barriers to employment for a brighter future.

Feeding Brave Medical Personnel
As medical responders provided critical care to those in needed, Lubrizol proudly purchased meals from local restaurants and provided meals to those working in local hospitals.

Supplying Protective Equipment for Frontline Workers
Across the world, Lubrizol and its employees donated thousands of hand sanitizers, sanitizing sprays, medical gowns, shoe covers, protective glasses and IV infusion sets to local hospitals, emergency responders and charitable organizations.

Developing and Donating a New Therapeutic Hand Cream
With frequent hand washing, moisturizing is needed to protect hands. Lubrizol teams in Spain developed and donated hand cream to help heal the hands of those fighting on the frontlines in hospitals locally, and then shipped the cream to others in need across the word.

Partnering to Support Key Medical Needs
To support Nike’s efforts to develop and donate full-face shields and powered, air-purifying respirator (PAPR) lenses to hospitals across several U.S. cities, Lubrizol donated thermoplastic polyurethane polymers, an important element in both pieces of personal protective equipment.

GOJO and Lubrizol also joined together to donate more than 16,000 liters of hand sanitizer, the equivalent of nearly 65,000 8 oz. bottles, to Northeast Ohio hospitals.

Contributing to the Red Cross
Lubrizol established a matching gift program for all contributions to the American Red Cross, as an extension of its regular matching gifts efforts. Employees in Singapore also donated to the Singapore Red Cross.

Volunteering…Virtually
Lubrizol employees have contributed hundreds of virtual volunteering hours, including tutoring students, transcribing historical documents, sewing masks for those in the community and supporting non-profits with donor outreach, amongst many other efforts.
