Tecophilic™ thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) offer an aliphatic, hydrophilic polyether-based resin which has been specially formulated to absorb equilibrium water contents from 20 to 1000% of the weight of dry resin.
Three grades are available—extrusion, hydrogel and solution.
- Extrusion grade formulations are designed to provide maximum physical properties of thermoformed tubing or other components. Specially formulated to absorb equilibrium water contents of up to 100% of the weight of dry resin.
- Hydrogel grades are designed to offer maximum absorption of water. Specially formulated to absorb equilibrium water contents of up to 900% of the weight of dry resin. This series can absorb or transport moisture. They have been designed to dissolve in various solvents for use in solution however they can also be melt coated or extruded.
- Solution grade formulations are designed to provide greater solubility in organic solvents to prepare lacquers for coating applications. Specially formulated to absorb equilibrium water contents of up to 150% of the weight of dry resin. This series has been designed to be dissolved in various solvents for use in solution. The solution grades differ from the extrusion grades in that they contain no melt processing lubricants.
