Addressing Perry Local Schools' administration and faculty, Bob Graf, corporate vice president of data science and analytics for Lubrizol, honored Rivera by highlighting her innovative unit titled “Empathy in Engineering,” which focuses on helping students better understand the needs of end users. Graf stated, “Understanding the end user perspective is critical to successful product design and it’s really impressive to see this element incorporated in a high school curriculum.”
