CLEVELAND, Ohio – April 30, 2024 – The Lubrizol Corporation, a global specialty chemical company whose science delivers sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve well-being and enhance modern life, contributed more than 3,000 volunteer hours in Q1 to support and give back to the communities where the company’s employees work and live.

Here are a few examples of the community investment efforts Lubrizol has made in 2024 to inspire Community Chemistry.

North America

Impacting Thousands in the Fight Against Hunger: Lubrizol volunteers rallied together to support Northeast Ohio food banks as part of March’s Harvest for Hunger Campaign. Volunteers committed more than 75 hours to pack meals for children, prepare hot meals for seniors, repack food in damaged packages, and pack pantry boxes of food to distribute at local food banks.

Inspiring and Educating Students on STEM Careers: Lubrizol volunteers took part in an event with our partner NEO: STEM, an organization that educates students about STEM-related careers. This initiative brought more than 1,800 children and families together to participate in hands-on activities and to hear from people in the industry, including the Lubrizol employees.

Building Bikes to Support CYCLE (Changing Young Children’s Lives through Education) in Houston: Lubrizol held an event for CYCLE, a Houston-based nonprofit dedicated to providing bicycles and helmets to supporting students in underserved. At this event, the Lubrizol team assembled 100 bicycles for deserving youth in the Houston area.

LATAM

Lending a Helping Hand for Flood Relief Efforts: After the Belford Roxo area in Rio de Janeiro experienced torrential flooding at the beginning of 2024, the local Lubrizol team took quick action to aid the recovery efforts. In collaboration with other nonprofits, Lubrizol provided 100 mattresses and other essentials to support the immediate needs of the local community.

Europe

Supporting STEM Education Across Europe: Lubrizol Spain participated in #100tífiques visiting local schools to share their experience and expertise with students, with a special focus on encouraging young girls to enter STEM fields. Lubrizol’s UK team supported British Science Week in March, visiting schools and talking with more than 500 students about the benefits of a STEM career.

India, Middle East, Africa

Planting Trees to Improve the Local Community: Lubrizol volunteers in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, participated in a volunteer project to promote sustainability through planting trees. The project led to the planting of 300 new trees in the local community. Improving Learning Conditions in India: Lubrizol team members donated and installed fans in a rural college library near Turbhe. This contribution and effort provide much needed air circulation for the student population, which is 70% female and majority first-generation college students.

Asia Pacific

Advocating for Mental Health with Local Nonprofit: The Lubrizol Singapore team arranged an activity alongside long-standing charity NTUC Health Henderson Home. Lubrizol volunteers assisted in organizing a movie and dinner for the home’s residents, giving many of the residents their first opportunity to watch a movie in a group since the pandemic.
