Laboratoire Phenobio brings innovative, green processes to products.

Lubrizol’s commitment to using clean, natural ingredients in its cosmetic and nutraceutical products was the reason behind its recent acquisition of a French company.

Laboratoire Phenobio has been doing groundbreaking work in subcritical water extraction (SWE), which is a new process of extracting botanical biomass with far less environmental impact than conventional methods. Laboratoire Phenobio, with headquarters near the Bordeaux region, has used the method to extract phytoactives from botanical raw materials with less energy and without using hazardous chemical solvents.

The acquisition allows Lubrizol to expand its capabilities to provide the botanical extracts and natural performance ingredients that consumers demand in products. The new extracts will be compliant with ECOCERT^® and COSMOS environmental standards.
