Carboset® 552   Acrylic Dispersion

Low molecular weight, Soft thermoplastic blend

Carboset® 552 is a soft thermoplastic polymer offering a hardness and molecular weight intermediate of two established polymers, Carboset® 515 and Carboset® 514H. This innovation takes advantage of the tackiness of Carboset 515 and the cohesive strength of Carboset 514H to offer an improved polymer to the adhesive industry. The lower molecular weight of Carboset 552, in comparison to that of Carboset 514H, offers easier alkali resolubility for applications where removability is desired. In addition to adhesive applications, Carboset 552 is recommended as a pigment dispersant and as a polymeric plasticizer for other hard polymeric coatings. The lower molecular weight of Carboset 552 makes it particularly useful as an additive in other systems to promote adhesion, flow, leveling and pigment dispersion. The viscosity of Carboset 552 can be reduced by the addition of water and increased by the addition of a neutralizing agent such as ammonium hydroxide. Carboset 552 is compatible with a variety of organic solvents, including lower alcohols, ketones and esters.
