Corrosion is an ongoing challenge for most water and wastewater treatment plants. Low pH levels, an array of caustic disinfection chemicals, and desalinated water create a highly corrosive environment that can jeopardize the long-term reliability of even the most expensive industrial piping materials, such as carbon and stainless steel, high-end alloys and rubber-lined steel pipes.

Highly durable Corzan industrial piping systems, however, are corrosion-resistant, standing up to even the harshest chemicals commonly used in the disinfection process, including sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, sodium hypochlorite and ferric chloride. Made of high-performance chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) using Lubrizol’s patented technology, they are inert to most acids, salts, aliphatic hydrocarbons and bases such as magnesium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide (lime). In addition, they offer the mechanical strength to handle high temperatures and pressures--even in outdoor applications where they compare favorably to PVC in their ability to weather the effects of severe heat and sun exposure.
