SilSense® PE-100 silicone is an anionic silicone prepared by the reaction of PEG-8 Dimethicone (dimethicone copolyol) with polyphosphoric acid.
The introduction of the phosphate ester pendant functionality into a silicone polyether creates an anionic silicone. This modification enhances the molecules' detergency, foaming behavior, and emulsification properties. The result is a silicone product with novel hair and skin conditioning benefits.
SilSense PE-100 silicone is water soluble and can be easily formulated into clear systems, without the need for an elaborate emulsification or stabilization system. This important property makes SilSense PE-100 silicone a valuable additive for use in a wide range of hair and skin care products, where it provides formulation enhancement and permits the formulator to achieve consumer perceptible benefits.
