Advanced Polymer — Lubrizol® 2002 for Water Wash-Off Resistance
Lubrizol® 2002 advanced polymer additive for greases provides superior water wash-off resistance in applications exposed to high levels of direct or indirect water spray. It consistently produces excellent results in the harsh conditions of the ASTM D 4049 test. Grease treated with Lubrizol 2002 additive reduces the spray-off rate to 14 percent, in comparison with nearly 100 percent removal for untreated grease and 96 percent for competitive products used at comparable treat rates.
Lubrizol 2002 additive is a structure modifier that chemically reacts with the grease thickener and becomes an integral part of the soap structure. Improving the thickening efficiency of the soap improves cost efficiency by reducing the amount of soap required to formulate greases. In addition, greases formulated with Lubrizol 2002 additive provide increased worked-penetration ratings as measured in the ASTM D 217 test, so that the required NLGI rating can be achieved with lower levels of soap.
