Lithium Hydroxide Dispersion - Lubrizol® 5280GR for Manufacturing Efficiencies

Lubrizol 5280GR is an oil-based form of dispersed, micron-sized anhydrous lithium hydroxide particles designed to replace lithium hydroxide monohydrate when manufacturing lithium and lithium complex greases. This highly engineered material dramatically reduces manufacturing time and energy consumption.

Performance Characteristics

This advanced technology features:

• A particle size that is 100 times smaller, thus exposing a larger total surface area to the solution for faster reactivity
• The presence of both acid and base in the oil phase, for faster saponification
• Reduced production cycles and lower peak reaction temperatures for:
  • Significant savings in labor, overhead and energy
  • Dramatic increases in throughput
  • The ability to increase capacity without the addition of costly equipment
• Mineral oil base, with optional PAO-based material available

Testing

In laboratory tests comparing lithium greases and lithium complex greases manufactured using Lubrizol 5280GR technology against lithium greases and lithium complex greases manufactured using a conventional technology, no significant performance deviations occurred.
