Novegum™ hydrocolloids are natural thickening agents designed to work in synergy with other hydrocolloids, such as carrageenan or xanthan gum. The initial series of Novegum hydrocolloids has been developed from either cassia or guar gum. Products include Novegum C865 hydrocolloid and Novegum C866 hydrocolloid which are cassia gums that differ by their degree of refinement; and Novegum G888 hydrocolloid which is a guar gum.
Advantages Novegum hydrocolloids are ideal for air freshener gel applications and offer substantial advantages relative to carrageenan, the most commonly used substance to produce the gelling effect in the product. When a portion of the carrageenan in the formulation is replaced with Novegum hydrocolloids, the end result is an air freshener gel with significantly improved gel strength, enhanced stability and balanced fragrance release properties which enable the gel to last longer. Other benefits which can be realized by air freshener gel manufacturers include lower overall formulation costs, since Novegum hydrocolloids cost less than carrageenan, and improve productivity due to the faster curing times associated with Novegum hydrocolloids.
