Glass Reinforced
A broad range of glass-reinforced engineered polymer products deliver high modulus and stiffness, superior dimensional stability, and abrasion resistance for use in automotive, agricultural, industrial, recreational, and sporting good applications. These high-performance grades also have unique load-bearing capabilities and offer lighter weight and reduced cost for metal replacement uses.
Estaloc® reinforced engineering thermoplastic (RETPU) products complement the durability and aesthetics of our engineered polymers by providing increased stiffness and dimensional stability over a broad temperature range. These 80 Shore D hardness glass-reinforced products provide a cost-effective alternative versus competitive and glass-filled polymers. The workhorse injection molding grades, Estaloc 59104, 59300, and 59600 RETPUs, offer increasing levels of flexural modulus, not to mention, Estaloc 59600 RETPU boasts a flexural modulus of 650,000 psi.
The reinforced TPU slate also includes Isoplast® long-glass-reinforced ETPUs which deliver both high ductility and load-bearing capabilities. These rigid polymers have flexural modulus up to 2 million psi which opens the door for a range of metal replacement applications and structural components. Isoplast engineering thermoplastic polyurethane (ETPU) resins combine the toughness and dimensional stability of amorphous resins with the superior performance and chemical resistance associated with semi-crystalline resins.
A unique feature of glass-reinforced Isoplast grades is their low melt viscosity which permits the molding of larger parts with fewer gates and lower clamp pressure. These materials also offer good aesthetics, reduced glass grain, and excellent dimensional stability. They also provide uniform shrinkage and low moisture absorption, unlike competitive polymers like nylon.
The workhorse injection molding grades - Isoplast 101LGF40, 101LGF60, and 202LGF40 (high-heat) ETPUs - have glass loadings from 40% to 60% and also offer excellent chemical and corrosion resistance. They deliver improved design flexibility and reduced machining in metal replacement applications such as nuts and bolts, scaffolding brackets, and brake handle release levers.
