Estane® Engineered Polymers

Chemical Resistant

Estane® resin technology has spawned a wide range of high-performance formulations which deliver exceptional chemical resistance. These polyester and polyether grades have the ability to resist chemical attack or be dissolved by or swelled by materials such as solvents, acids, and bases.

As a general rule, chemical resistance is a function of hardness; harder materials generally have greater chemical resistance. In addition, polyester-grades are generally more resistant to fuels, oils, and solvents and can be stabilized against hydrolysis. In material selection, an OEM who requires a chemically-resistant plastic must assess the performance environment and select a material with not only the proper hardness but the necessary mechanical properties and processing capabilities.

A broad portfolio of chemically-resistant engineered polymer grades is available to match specific mechanical performance and processing needs primarily for the industrial and transportation industries. The product slate includes injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, and calendering grades. For transportation applications, Estane's engineered polymers meet demanding requirements for seals, gaskets, and hydraulic cylinders. Industrial applications include conveyor belts for food processing, flexible fuel tanks, and printing components.

Estane's latest engineered polymer formulations resist biodiesel, gas/ethanol mixtures, and other solvents.
