Gain The Lubrizol Advantage with New Specification and Educational Tools

CEU courses and BIM offerings to be unveiled at ASPE 2012
In today’s fast-paced world, busy professionals always appreciate ways to save time and work more efficiently. To help plumbing engineers simplify their daily routines and stay on top of the latest trends, The Lubrizol Corporation’s CPVC division is unveiling new specification and educational tools at the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) 2012 Convention and Exposition, October 27-31 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Visit booth #1667 to learn more about our industry-leading products and these new ways we are adding value for the entire supply chain from engineers and installers to end users:
New CEU Courses from Lubrizol CPVC
In most states, plumbing engineers are required to earn professional development hours (PDHs) to retain licensure. Additionally, the ASPE Certified Plumbing Design (CPD) program requires regular coursework to maintain CPD status.
Lubrizol CPVC is helping plumbing engineers meet their educational requirements by offering dynamic and interesting CEU courses, accredited through AS PE. Worth one state
PDH, or 0.1 CEU , the courses provide valuable insight into trends and technologies impacting the plumbing industry.
- Value Engineering with CPVC Water Distribution Systems:
This course is intended to educate the engineering community on CPVC as an acceptable, value engineering alternative material. It will cover the material properties, code status, standards and design considerations for a CPVC water distribution system.
- The Science of Solvent Welding:
This course explains how solvent welding works, the factors that can affect proper specification of solvent cements, and the fundamental differences between a solvent weld and a glued joint.
ASPE provides plumbing engineers and designers with myriad ways to enhance their skills and knowledge, while earning the continuing education units needed for certifications and professional registrations. Lubrizol is proud to partner with ASPE in its initiatives and is working on further course offerings for plumbing engineers. Learn more at our ASPE booth or visit www.lubrizol.com/ceu.
BIM Offerings for FlowGuard Gold® and Corzan® Systems
Building Information Modeling (BIM) has gained widespread acceptance over the past nine years as a means for increasing productivity in building design and construction. With real-time, 3D modeling software, plumbing engineers and architects are able to:
- Detect and prevent design conflicts
- Quickly create multiple designs to compare and identify the best value-engineered solution
- Create detailed outputs for accurate cost estimates
- Lower costs by reducing on-site errors and delays
- Communicate clearly with non-technical investors and design makers
BIM works by enabling users to download files, models, drawings and specifications—also known as BIM objects—into active design sessions using Autodesk® Revit® and AutoCAD® software. Lubrizol is making the process simple for users with the introduction of BIM objects for its FlowGuard Gold® and Corzan® pipe and fittings.
Lubrizol CPVC’s new BIM objects are readily available through these commonly used portals:
- Autodesk® Seek, a web-based search engine for BIM objects and specifications for use in Revit, AutoCAD, Maya® and other CAD applications. Lubrizol CPVC’s BIM objects can be directly accessed from within the Autodesk® Revit® program.
- McGraw-Hill Sweets™, a web-based platform for construction products that lists products, product information and BI M objects, including those for FlowGuard old and Corzan systems.
FlowGuard Gold and Corzan systems are the only non-metallic pipe and fitting options available in Autodesk Revit that meet the requirements for both hot and cold potable water stablished by national model codes. By specifying Lubrizol CPVC’s products in BIM models, users will avoid conflicts and delays caused by the inaccuracies of metallic models and see dramatically reduced cost estimates by eliminating overpriced metallic options.
Lubrizol continues to advance innovative solutions for the building and construction market. Visit our booth at ASPE (#1667) to talk one-on-one with a piping system consultant about two new ASPE-accredited CEU courses and new BIM object offerings.
