CLICK THE BUTTON to print a letter you can send to the CBSC showing your support of the universal approval of CPVC in the California Plumbing Code. Fax it to: (916) 263-0959 or E-mail: CBSC@dgs.ca.gov
Now is the time to voice your opinion in favor of a new plumbing code – one that gives you the choice to use the best piping material for the application.
As you know, the 2007 California Plumbing code allows CPVC except for applications under authority of the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD). OSHPD enforces requirements related to the construction of hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, licensed clinics and correctional treatment centers.
The California Building Standards Commission (CBSC) on behalf of OSHPD is proposing to change this exception and universally allow the use of CPVC in California.
That’s why we need your help. Tell the CBSC that you support a revised code allowing for the universal use of CPVC in California. Don’t take the chance that our politicians will make the right decision on their own. They need to know how you, the building professional, feel about the current code, which limits your choice of piping materials, yet still holds you liable when these systems fail.
More than ever, California needs a change. Don’t let others gamble with your future. Tell the CBSC that they need to act and allow California to join the other 49 states in allowing the universal use of CPVC. Simply print, sign and email this letter to the CBSC today. The public comment period ends on October 12. In order for your opinion to matter, you must respond prior to October 12.
