Under the current California plumbing code, chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) and cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) plumbing systems are fully approved for both residential and commercial projects. That’s good news for California contractors, builders and homeowners who can benefit from the installation of highly reliable, corrosion-resistant FlowGuard Gold®, Corzan® and FlowGuard™ Flex pipe and fittings.
The new code is in response to growing problems relative to the durability and reliability of copper and galvanized plumbing systems which have proven to be susceptible to the effects of pitting, scaling and corrosion and, ultimately, premature failure—especially in regions where local water supplies are characterized with a low pH level. FlowGuard Gold, Corzan and FlowGuard Flex plumbing systems offer a low-maintenance, affordable, and easy-to-install solution with a successful track record in the field.
Environmentally conscious Californians will also appreciate the sustainability of CPVC and PEX as well as their ability to maintain water quality. Both high-performance plastics have undergone rigorous testing to prove that they have no negative impact on the environment.
To ensure the proper installation of FlowGuard Gold and Corzan CPVC pipe and fittings, and to assist in code approval, we have provided the New CA Construction Project Submission Materials Packet. This valuable information packet includes our:
• FlowGuard Gold & Corzan design & installation manual • Third-party test reports (registration required) and other documentation especially created for code officials• Product background information
As is true with any piping material, installers should be fully trained and knowledgeable regarding proper handling and installation guidelines before commencing an installation. This packet of information is designed to supplement manufacturer’s instructions and to assist in the code approval process.
